The Miss Iraq 2017 competition will be held in Baghdad with the sponsorship of Nalia Media Corporation (NMC) and NRT channels.
Candidates will be chosen from all governorates in Iraq before Miss Iraq is chosen in a ceremony in Baghdad. Miss Iraq will later participate in the Miss World and Miss Universe competitions as a representative of the country.
Female candidates who would like to participate in the contest can register at www.missiraq.net or contact a committee for competition arrangement through (email@example.com) or (00964 790 377 8668).
The Miss Iraq competition is a formal activity permitted by the Iraqi Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities. An official Iraqi representative will be selected to attend the Miss World and Miss Universe competitions.
Nalia Media Corporation and NRT channels have sponsored several conferences and ceremonies over the last couple of months, including the Sulaimani Forum at the American University in Iraq – Sulaimani, the Iraq Energy Forum and the International Festival for Reading the Quran.
NMC and NRT are expected to sponsor more international conferences in the future.
Iraq held its first beauty pageant in 1972 and again in 2015 after 43 years without the competition. The competition was held in 2015 despite harassment and death threats from hardliners in the country who said the pageant was immoral.
Kirkuk resident Shayma Abdelrahman, 22, was crowned the winner. Event organizers hoped she would represent Iraq in the next Miss Universe pageant.
