Chavy Tourism Company announced on Wednesday (April 19) one of Chavy Land Amusement Park’s projects in the Goizha Mountains has been hindered over various “illegal”justifications.
“We are committed to the law and will not suspend the project unless the investment board or a court decision tells us to do so,” Dana Hassan, the head of the Management Council of Chavy Land Amusement Park, said during a press conference in Sulaimani.
Hassan said aside from pressure facing Chavy Land’s project, a 7,000 meter plot of land owned by Chavy Company has been impounded by an individual identified as Shanaz Ibrahim Ahmed, the sister of a senior Kurdish official.
Hassan said the project was granted permission from the city’s investment board.
The Municipality of Sulaimani said earlier this month it is preventing Chavy Company from working on the project in the Goizha Mountains on the justification of damage to the environment and nature.
Chavy Tourist Company is working on a project to construct villas as part of the company’s effort to expand Chavy Land amusement park.
The company said on April 6 a number of armed men said to be loyal to senior Kurdish official Hero Ibrahim Ahmed broke into Chavy Land over alleged trespassing charges, which the company denied.
