ERBIL - Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Sunday received Iraqi Minister of Water Resources Mahdi Rashid al-Hamdani in Erbil, for talks on the construction of new dams in Iraq and the autonomous region.

The pair during their meeting shed light on 'strategic projects, securing dam maintenance requirements, and constructing new dams' in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, a statement by Barzani's office said, as cited by Kurdistan 24.

Barzani with Hamdani also exchanged views on means to further strengthen the cooperation between the Iraqi and Kurdistan Region's ministries of water resources.

Establishing a mechanism to resolve the issue of delayed salaries of dam employees was also discussed during the meeting, as the federal government is yet to deliver Erbil's share from the federal budget.
