Indonesia Seeking Closer Ties with Kurdistan: Ambassador

ERBIL — Indonesia seeks to expand its relations with the Kurdistan Region to develop investment and other cooperation opportunities, said Elmar Iwan Lubis, the Ambassador of Indonesia to Iraq.

Ambassador Lubis visited Erbil on Wednesday and met with Kurdish prominent leader Masoud Barzani to discuss bilateral ties and the latest developments.

The diplomat, who was accompanied by his country’s consul general in Erbil, praised the Kurdistan Region for its security and stability, according to a press release from Barzani Headquarters.

He also said Indonesian businesses are willing to invest in the Kurdistan Region markets.

Barzani, in return, thanked the guests and stated that he supports stronger relations between Erbil and Jakarta in different areas of potential cooperation.
