Iraq, Turkey Stress The Need To Strengthen Cooperation In The Banking Sector


Baghdad / NINA / - Iraq and Turkey stressed the need to enhance cooperation in the banking sector between the two friendly countries.

A statement to the media of the Central Bank of Iraq stated, today, Tuesday, that the Governor of the Iraqi Bank, Mustafa Ghaleb Mokhief, met the Turkish Ambassador, Ali Reza Günay, and the delegation accompanying him from Turkish banks.

During the meeting, it was stressed the need to enhance cooperation in the banking sector between the two friendly countries. The Governor expressed the Central Bank of Iraq's keenness to provide the best facilities to Turkish banks operating in Iraq, and his desire to open branches for Iraqi banks in Turkey, and the importance of reciprocity in providing these services and facilities.

The governor indicated that the fruitful cooperation between the two countries has positive economic repercussions due to the large volume of trade exchange between the two countries, with the need to adhere to the laws of combating money laundering and terrorist financing.
