Iraq to Import Natural Gas from Syria: Report

ERBIL — The Iraqi government is planning to import natural gas from its neighbor, Syria, according to Iraqi News Agency.

The report cited Oil Minister Ihsan Abdul Jabbar, who met with his Syrian counterpart in Baghdad on Thursday to discuss the issue.

'There is an imminent agreement to import Syrian gas into Iraq,” Abdul Jabbar said without providing further details.

Iraq was struggling with massive power shortage in certain provinces earlier this year after Iran slashed supplying natural gas due to unpaid bills by Baghdad.
